The
sleeping bag should have a rating of -10 degrees Celsius and
should prove to be more than acceptable as we have adequate
heat in our cabins. Warm, layered clothing (outdoor) is recommenced
to ensure individual requirements are met during our ever-changing
daily temperatures.
The
terrain consists of rolling hills, light to medium tree coverage,
with walking surfaces consisting of caribou moss (lichen), short
shrubs, and occasional flat to rigid rock surface it is strongly
recommenced that you bring both knee-high
waterproof footwear and water resistant hiking
boot; both should have high quality anti-slip grips.
We
offer complimentary fishing
from the beginning of caribou hunting season
through to September 15 (end of fishing season). We suggest
a medium action rod and reel, 12-15 pound test line, mepps and
spoon type hooks, i.e. red devil, blue fox. A small assortment
of hooks will be fine.
Transportation
to Labrador, Canada
Air
Canada and its connector airlines service the United
States and Canada on a
regular, daily basis. To ensure you receive the best possible
airfare, we suggest that you contact your travel agency during
the spring season to obtain exemplary fall seat-sale rates.
We
require that you arrive in Goose Bay
no less than one day prior to your scheduled hunt
as you will by transported by chartered airline to the camp
at 6:00 a.m.on the date of your scheduled hunt. Your departure
date from Goose Bay to your home destination should be scheduled
for the date following the scheduled end of your hunt.
The
Air Canada connector serving our area as morning and afternoon
flights departing from goose bay for points within Canada and
the United States. You will arrive in Goose Bay mid-morning
from our camp at the end of your hunt. It as been our experience
that caribou hunters departing Goose Bay on an afternoon flight
will require an overnight
stay prior to reaching your final destination. This
will cause the inconvenience of making arrangements to have
your meat and antlers stored rather than having our staff handle
this at Goose Bay until your departure the following morning.
