"THE NEW MIGRATION OF THE CARIBOU"
For years, we have been hunting the caribou of the legendary George River Herd, the largest herd of caribou on earth. The feeding grounds of the George River herd used to be farther north, way out of range of our floatplanes. Recently, these caribou moved southward during their summer migration and our territories are now becoming their new feeding range.
The Québec-Labrador Caribou With the male's weight varying between 300 and 400 pounds, the Rangifer Tarandus or "Tuktuk" is another member of the deer family. It is a gregarious animal, and always on the move. The Quebec Labrador herd is the largest in the world. " Like all other deer, the caribou is gifted with fine hearing and a particularly keen sense of smell. In an open area, caribou can also easily detect movements from far away.
